What inspired you to launch your own website?
I only learnt how o program wesites this year so I think I have done quite well. I wanted to produce and nice looking website which I think I have but also I love travelling and have lways wanted to get into the travel industry so I have combined the two.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was September this year.. http://www.travelboffin.com I wrote travel guides on places I have been.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Much thought, going through the dictionary, dding words together and looking for a unique name that wasn't too long and could be remembered.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I have put though and heart into my travel guides.. I understand t will not be for everyone but the style f writing giving a brief history of the location will suit many. Villaboffin.com attaches quite nicely to travelboffin.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I am hoping within the next 5 years villaboffin will have several properties on and regular customers.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I am putting more effort in than anything else at present but I am enjoying it and learning.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would have had whole lot done differently. The web design done professionally. travelboffin doesn't look as good as villaboffin but that is just down to learning and experience.. I would pay for SEO.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I think I would.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Bits and pieces like buying flash maps and things.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Learning html javascrpt. I am a nurse by trade.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Getting non reciprocal links and making it crawl friendly, keywords.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I didn't realise how difficult it would be to get a listing.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Since September and for as long as I can.
