Holiday rental properties and destination guides for Bulgaria.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I wanted to offer a free site for people to rent their properties in Bulgaria.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
The site was launched in late 2006, it started with one property which belongs to a friend.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
There was a sea view from my friend's property which is in Bulgaria, so bulgariaseaview.com was born.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Completely independent, completely free, no plans to make money. I'm doing it as a hobby.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
The aim is to have a very useful site for anyone who wants to visit Bulgaria that is completely free with no adverts.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I work on the site in the evenings when I have time. People have started adding their properties so I guess it is successful
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
It's a hobby so budget doesn't come into it.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes easily - I already own high traffic websites so I know I can deal with it.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I chose for it to be a hobby so that I don't have unexpected problems.
What has been your biggest challenge?
e-marketing. I don't like doing it because it is boring.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
So far search engines.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I wasn't expecting people to add their properties so quickly.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
It's been up for 1 year and a half. I plan to continue running it indefinitely.
