Please give us a short summary of your website?
We are a UK travel agent and our website is our initial contact with our customers. Our aim of the site to to get potential customers to contact us either by phone or our online enquiry form.
We noticed before launching the site that most travel sites are full of advertisments and push people towards their special offers and what the company wants to sell which is obviouly good for the company but doesn't help the customers.
Our site is designed to easily guide you through the thought process of where you want to go right up to choosing a hotel. The hotels featured are all selected because they have received excellent feedback from previous guests that have stayed there.
Once someone has contacted us we then support them from ensuring they have selected an appropriate holiday to seeing them though until they return home.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Exisiting travel websites trying to push what they want to sell rather than whats appropriate to the customer.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website and we launches it 6 months ago.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Was very difficult but wanted something that was unique but that also cunjured up images of a beach
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
is more about the customer and whats suitable for them
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
to get the customers details
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
its still early days but we are getting a large number of people contacting us for guidnace who are in turn booking with us so early signs are good.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Would have have a search tool so people could enter what they enjoyed and it come bring up suggestions.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
yes we have a good structure in place to grow the business.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
We do get a number of customers who contact us and ask us to look in to something for them and we can spend a large amount of time working on it. When we then go back to them we can't get hold of them or they don't return or e-mails which is fustrating after spending time on it for them to ensure we get the best package at the best price.
What has been your biggest challenge?
It has all been quite challenging but reqarding at the same time.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
pay per click
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I thought it would be easier to get ranked in google but we don't seem to rank as highly as I would have hoped.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We have run the site for 6 months and are growing our customer base so hope to keep growing it and would hope that this will carry on.
