My site is full of travel tips, reviews, photography and reading ideas for travelers like you. The articles are written by avid travelers (well, mostly myself) and we write about the things we like or wish to help others with.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
Eyeflare.com is creating a small and eclectic travel site that helps people travel better. For less money, more comfortably, and most important, with better experiences.
What do you blog the most about?
Usually London experiences, as I live here and it's easy to find material. Otherwise, I try to review as many venues and outings as possible when I travel myself. I find most guidebooks are in hock to the tour operators and are full of inaccuracies or paid plugs.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
Splogs... goes without saying really. Also, paid reviews get on my goat.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
1. Get to know something well and then write about it.
2. Have personality.
3. Don't be afraid to upset people, some will love you and that's more valuable.
4. Don't read other blogs before you write on a topic, you'll get boring.
5. Travel a lot!
How long have you been blogging?
The site's been up since 1999, but it started growing more last year.
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
Not enough! As you can see from the modest number of articles on the site so far.
Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
About 25, some travel but mostly professional.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
Yes, and it drives a lot of great traffic to my site and I can give back to other travel bloggers.
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
Social media, email and simply talking about my site in person.
What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?
Writing sub-par content. It's better to delete your draft if it's poor rather than publish.
