Responsible Adventures Interview

Name of your website?

Responsible Adventures

Your name?

Raj Tamang

Your Location (city, etc)

Kathmandu

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Responsible Adventures are the Himalayan Trekking Specialists. We offer unparalled services in the Himalayan regions.Service includes for all ages and any group size, ranging from family trekking holidays to school educational trips.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I wanted to offer superior quality services to clients after working 18 years with some of the biggest adventure tour operators from 1988 until 2006. More importantly, i wanted my wonderful staff to be paid well and be given a dignified working environment.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Everyon is talking about Responsible Tourism in the grey. I thought I choose the name where the term is aplied truthfully.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

As i mentioned earlier, we provide superior services to our clients and we have a wonderful and talented set of support crew for the treks.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

The eventual goal is to make the clients and the people who make a difference happy. More importantly with the higher wages that is paid to my employees, they will be able to give their children basic education and or opportunities, which they themselves didn't get in their childhood.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We just started a couple of years ago, i must say we are getting by at the moment.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Provide free education for the under privilaged children of the world.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I guess, we wil have to hire more professionals to look after the business.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None so far, thank god.

What has been your biggest challenge?

To be able to give work to other exploited/underpaid employees of other companies who come 'begging' for an opportunity to serve under our just treatment organisation.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

We are just beggining with link exchanges and listings in directories.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I had poor SEO job done for the website and of course having limited bdget for marketing.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It has been runnning since November 2005. I intend to keep it up forever.

Replace this with a question of your own

How would you like to have a holiday and make a difference to the lives of the very people who make your holiday special?

What is your website address?
