Please give us a short summary of your website?
We are an Aventure tour operator who specialises in trekking holidays in the Himalaya. However we are looking to expand to neighbouring regions in the near futures.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I had been woking as a trek leader for various international tour companies since 1988. I know that i can provide a more personalised service second to none in this idustry.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Everyone is concerned about the environment and the fair treatment of the employees, so what better name than Responsible Adventures.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We have a selected group of trekking crew who not only help make your treks easier with their friendly smiles, they can even entertain you with skillful dancing, singing and music on some evenigs of the treks. They are a very happy and dignified bunch as they are among the best paid trekking crew in the Himalaya.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Responsible Adventures eventual goal is to give the clients a time of their lives and a dignified career for the employees by giving them respect and generous wages inorder for them to be educate their children, improve the livelihood of their families etc. Hence our slogan: Making a difference!
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We are fairly new but are expanding pretty quickly by the word of mouth of satisfied customers.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would spend the budget on training our carefully selected employees so that they are the best in their field of work. We would attend international travel trade fairs for marketing. We would hire a proffessional SEO company for internet sales.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Definitely. A lot of wonderful people who are not paid a fair wage know me and know that i am a generous paymaster for the proffessional and talented people. They are a lot of trekking crews who are knocking on my door begging for work.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None so far, thank god.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Budget to have a bigger start so that i could help a lot more underpaid people in this industry.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
SEO but have yet to be able to find/afford a true pro.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Yes. SEO work on my website has a vast room for improvement.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Since the end of 2005. We intend to keep it for ever, god willing.
