Show Me Lakes is a collection of Missouri lake resorts and attractions. With resorts on 10 Missouri Lakes including Bull Shoals Lake, Tablerock Lake, Lake Taneycomo, Clearwater Lake, Stockton Lake, Mark Twain Lake, Truman Lake, Lake of the Ozarks, Lake Wappapello, Lake Pomme de Terre"
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I really enjoy the Missouri ozarks and all the surrounding lakes. My family has been traveling to Bull Shoals Lake every since I can remember and there was no website which listed lodging or area attractions for the lake. This is how Show Me Lakes got started. We have since expanded to cover 9 more lakes as well as guide services, area attractions and fishing reports on all lakes.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
In 2004, It was the website for my company www.altecdesign.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Brainstorming with friends.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Well there is no real site similar to Show Me Lakes for Missouri travel. Their was no site with information about all the lakes, and accommodations, dining ect.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To incorporate all the lake resorts on each lake.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, we have a good team at Altec Design.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None so far knock on wood, everything with the site has been really fun and a great learning experience along the way.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
So far we have done no promotion, only word of mouth and some SEO.
